In just two years, Butte County has suffered two of the deadliest wildfires in CA history
Governor Newsom: “We are in the midst of an existential climate crisis”
OROVILLE – Governor Gavin Newsom joined CALFIRE leadership in surveying recently burned areas of the North Complex fire today.
“I want to express my condolences to those who lost their lives, loved ones, or their homes during this deadly wildfire event,” said Governor Gavin Newsom. “California is in the midst of an existential climate crisis. It was just two years ago that this area saw the deadliest wildfire in our history. Now, just a few miles away, another deadly wildfire has ripped through these same communities. There is no doubt – climate change is here, and it is happening faster than most had anticipated.
“While California balances on a knife-edge when it comes to climate impact, our state is leading the world in turning our climate resolve into results. We aren’t just making bold promises – we are using our economic strength and innovation to lead the nation and the world towards a greener future. As the events of the last month have shown us, that work has to move faster, too.”

As Chairman of PVBLIC, we are managing various Donor Fund Programs, supporting various initiatives, from supporting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and investing in projects that are advancing the measuring of Data for Good, to advancing the public-private strategies to develop more multi-stakeholder platforms and partnerships to build a better tomorrow. In addition to other initiatives where we are supporting the development of educational programs to advance the Pope's Foundations, Scholars, and the goal to prepare the next generation of responsible young leaders, across to supporting the UN and WHO efforts of educating a global audience, how to stay safe, educated and protected--and be stewards of our Earth.
Work:
Constellation uses the diverse voices of astronauts and cosmonauts from around the world to advocate for unified action to protect the life support systems of Spaceship Earth. Just as we work together as a single, unified, international crew to maintain the life support systems on the International Space Station, we need to do the same on the Earth’s surface. We are all crewmates on Spaceship Earth and as such we have a responsibility to mind the ship and take care of our fellow crewmates.
